Government May Still Reduce GST Rates Upon Suggestions: Home Minister India

Home Minister Views for GST

The home minister Rajnath Singh has assured that the central government is still open to consider any GST rate reduction in the view of recent 28th GST council meeting decisions.

In the meeting, on around 88 consumer-focused products get to see the reduction in GST rates including the much anticipated sanitary napkin and refrigerators.

In the inauguration of National Traders’ Conclave being organized by the Confederation of All-India Traders, home minister praised the government for implementing such a complex tax regime in short time with simplicity and support.

In a statement, he mentioned that “GST rates of several items have recently been slashed and many items have been brought under zero per cent and five per cent slabs. The government is open to a further review of the slabs.”

The home minister also defined some significant statistics, including 1.25 crore of registrations under the new GST regime, and more than 1.15 GST return filings done.

He was proud to announce that India has entered the Club 10 of most developed economies bypassing France and scoring 6th position in the ranking.

According to his statement, “I am confident, as economists predict that in the next two-three years, India’s economy will be among the top five. With this pace of GDP growth, by 2030 we will break into the world’s top three economies.”
