Rajasthan CM Appealed for Lower Taxation on Commercial Stone

GST is a discussion point in every political and financial corridor from a long time and this time Rajasthan government wants some points which need to be heard. The chief minister of Rajasthan state, Vasundhara Raje has put some relation in tax slab of particular stones like Kota stone, marble, sandstone and granite.

The minister made some quick demands with logical reasons to be kept into GST and made an appeal to put the Kota stone, marble, sandstone and granite under the lower slab rate of 5 percent at max. The same will be decided by the GST council in a fitment committee by deciding each and every product tax rates.

The CM mentioned in a statement, “Kota stone, marble, sandstone, and granite are taxed at higher rates in other states. The Fitment Committee might decide to fit… (these products) in higher tax slabs, I request for consideration of putting a marble, Kota Stone, sandstone and granite in a lower slab of 5 per cent.”

Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje was speaking at the third meeting of the Niti Aayog’s Governing Council and there she made these statement in front of respectable ministers. As the GST council decided a four-tier rate structure of 5, 12, 18 and 28 per cent, it now the duty of fitment committee to adjust all these products and services into the respective category.

The CM also added that “To ensure that every resident is empowered to improve the quality of life, we are in process of development of ‘Khush-half Index’ based on transactional real-time data.” The chief minister asked for the partnership in exercising the moderate activities raising the index in order to narrow the gap which is related to social-economic and geospatial analysis. She is hopeful that the extracted proficiency can be shared and applied to other states as well which can increase the overall productivity.

  1. With due respect,
The gst bill should be for the equality and justice for a being but by adding gst so high upon the marble, stone etc.is actually unfair from my pint of view because it is the item of domestic purpose which everyone uses irregularly.even those700,000 peole associated with the work of marble industry would might get into fear of gst so in that case it would be not bad for them and I hope gst not motives to make someone feel bad.not because I am associated with this stone work but actually, I on behalf all those people who directly or indirectly feels that the higher gst on whichever product will lead to some devastating effect on their business.hence,I wish it should be categorised under 18% only or some other solution should be at least discussed once before implementing gst this is to ensure and to preserve the rights of all individuals.
    Thanking you,
    Yours truly
