TAAPMA: Govt to Lower GST Rate on Plastics from 18% to 12%

TAAPMA Wants 12% GST Rate on Plastics

Before the Telangana state government, the Telangana and Andhra Plastics Manufactures Association (TAAPMA) requested to lessen the GST on plastics from 18% to 12%.

At the time of the curtain raiser event conducted at a private hotel in Hyderabad, in association with HIPLEX, South, and Central India’s biggest Plastics Expo, organized to be held at Hitex, Madhapur in August, All India Plastics Manufacturers Association (AIPMA) Vice President (South) Anil Reddy Vennum, recommended Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Government of Telangana, to acknowledge the GST reduction.

Reddy emphasized the pressure the plastics business was under owing to a number of causes, emphasizing that the 18% GST slab rate that was changed was a serious setback. He highlighted that the sector had lower profit margins due to the intense rivalry and the abundance of micro, small, and medium-sized businesses.

What is TAAPMA?

In the year 1969 TAAPMA Telangana and Andhra Plastics Manufacturers Association Formerly (APPMA) were promoted with the idea of providing the plastics industry that was at a very early phase. The effective efforts would have been made by Shri Hanumandas Darak in the initial years. After that TAAPMA would have surged in strength. The same would be sorting the issues of plastic industrial units and would be working as a bridge between the units and the government. The same would be the elegant connection with the All India Plastics Manufacturers Association, Mumbai, and the Governments of Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh (Department of Industries, Commercial Taxes, Electricity, Pollution Control Board, etc.).

By frequently communicating with government agencies, TAAPMA was able to secure an innovative type of tax set-off on locally sourced raw materials, which would benefit both legitimate processors and the government’s revenue interests.

To keep its members informed of developments in plastics R&D both domestically and internationally, TAAPMA routinely organizes seminars and workshops. ‘Plast Meets’ are also routinely organized by it. The dissemination of knowledge on technology, the market, governmental policy, taxation, etc. is aided by these interactive seminars.

In order to encourage children to embrace the bin culture, TAAPMA has organized awareness campaigns in schools and taken a proactive role in environmental concerns. Additionally, we have been setting up a booth at the All India Industrial Exhibition at the Nampally Exhibition Grounds to raise awareness of the bin culture, the Dos and Don’ts of Plastics, and the usage of plastic carry bags for food applications.
