The company cited Star Health and Allied Insurance Co Ltd as having received 25 tax demand orders across its zonal offices in Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Telangana, and Karnataka.
The orders issued via distinct Goods and services tax (GST) and Central Excise authorities, amount to a total demand of approximately Rs 49 crore, including penalties.
As per the exchange filing the GST tax demands related to the alleged breaches, along with the non-payment of GST on coinsurance transactions as a follower, non-disclosure of such transactions in statutory returns, and failure to issue invoices for coinsurance services.
The Haryana office of the company received 5 tax demand orders of Rs 4.9 crore from the Office of the Additional Commissioner of GST & Central Excise, Gurgaon (North) Ward. Meanwhile, its Delhi office was issued four orders of Rs 4.7 crore from GST authorities in Delhi South.
In Maharashtra, Star Health’s Mumbai and Andheri East offices imposed 5 tax orders of Rs 19.4 crore, the highest among all states. Likewise in Tamil Nadu, 5 tax demand orders of Rs 16.2 crore were issued via Chennai-North GST authorities.
Telangana office of the company in Secunderabad was been served 5 orders of Rs 8 crore, while its Karnataka office received a single tax order of Rs 12.8 lakh from Bengaluru West GST authorities.

The company mentioned that it shall contest the tax demands via filing an appeal or a writ petition with the precise authorities based on the statutory advice of the council.
