Reconciling GST Returns Due Date

In a recent appeal by the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), it has been demanded that the due date for the reconciled GST returns for the financial year 2017-18 from September 2018 to December 31 must be extended.

In this regard, a memorandum has been given to the Chairman, Group of Ministers, GSTN and Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Sushil Kumar Modi.

According to the memorandum, presented by FKCCI President Sudhakar Shetty, it is said that “We understand that almost 93 per cent of the GST registrants have turnover below? 5 crore and are classified as small dealers. The option provided for said registrants to submit quarterly return is appreciated.”

It was suggested that schedule two dates for filing GST returns, in particular, the GSTR 3B, which in return reduce the pressure on taxpayers as well as GSTN portal. He also sought draft GST forms for Simplification of GST Returns.

As per the demand, the president pleaded for extending the deadline till December 31, 2018, of the due date for reconciling returns filed for the financial year 2017-18 is in September 2018.

Earlier the government had extended the due date for filing income tax returns and tax audit reports from September 30th to 15th October.
