PM Modi Expresses Sorrow for Stuck GST

Yesterday, commenting on the Goods and Services Tax, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that it is not just GST Bill stuck in the Rajya Sabha rather it is a “Matter of Sorrow“. Narendra Modi went to Jagran Forum that held by the Dainik Jagran group in New Delhi on Thursday and there Mr. Modi told, “It is not only GST, but many pro-poor steps are stuck in Parliament.” He further said, “Democracy cannot function at the whims and fancies of anyone.”

He also said, “You must have seen that these days this (disruptions) is being seen more. Meri Marji (I will do what I desire). I will do whatever comes to my mind. Does the country run like this?”

Earlier, the Modi had said that the session of parliament was executing in easily and “all parties deserved credit” for the GST. The GST bill is stuck in the Upper House of Parliament, while it has passed in the Lok Sabha.

In the Rajya Sabha, ruling BJP has of majority votes (48 members) and main opposition party Congress has a much majority (67 members). Therefore, BJP requires the back of Congress to roll-out the GST bill in the Parliament, and for that, recently, PM Modi had invited Congress Senior leaders to discuss about GST Bill.

In this week, the Delhi High Court had rejected Sonia and Rahul’s pleas for quashing the summons against them over the National Herald case. In this case, the Congress’s leader Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have to attend the court’s hearing on December 19, 2015. They had found in an allegation of illegally acquired property worth INR 5,000 crore that is belonging to the National Herald newspaper.
