In a setback to those firms resting in the northeast, the government has cleared that there will be no tax exemptions for the hilly states and northeastern regions under GST.
As confirmed by the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC), errors by exporters in filing GST returns are causing the delay in disbursing tax refunds. Only a third of the total returns filed under the new tax regime are eligible for tax refunds and the refund process for those with clear documents has begun.
For claiming refunds under GST, recently the government has observed that nearly 10,000 applications have been filed by exporters till November.
GST Network has informed the exporters about the refund filing mechanism and allowed them to furnish details on common GST portal in table 6A of GSTR-1 return form.
