A demand has been put by the Export Promotion Council of India for the online linkage of the Goods and Services Network (GSTN) with the NSDL portal to ensure a fast and smooth transition of GST refunds.
In a setback to those firms resting in the northeast, the government has cleared that there will be no tax exemptions for the hilly states and northeastern regions under GST.
As confirmed by the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC), errors by exporters in filing GST returns are causing the delay in disbursing tax refunds. Only a third of the total returns filed under the new tax regime are eligible for tax refunds and the refund process for those with clear documents has begun.
For claiming refunds under GST, recently the government has observed that nearly 10,000 applications have been filed by exporters till November.
A new facility has been started by the government on its GSTN portal, under which the taxpayers who paid excess tax money by mistake, can now transfer the money back to their bank accounts. This facility has started online from 29th November.
GST Network has informed the exporters about the refund filing mechanism and allowed them to furnish details on common GST portal in table 6A of GSTR-1 return form.
India is making full efforts on implementing indirect taxation structure system. It is similar to State Good and Service Tax (SGST). Tax-free zones are some specific areas in which business enterprises are exempted from paying sales state tax and will be eligible to claim the refund under new GST Regime.
There are various rules and regulations which emerge while GST refund process. The GST refund will be needed to properly maintained under the GST as even a slight delay in the refund process will impact the working capital and cash flow of the manufacturers and exporters.
The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has released the GST draft rules and formats for refund and return. Previously, CBEC has asked for suggestions for the GST draft rules for registration, payment and invoices, which will be accepting comments and feedback until September 28.
