GST Enrollment Relief for Online Sellers

A 47th GST official ruled in Chandigarh has chosen to allow the composition assessee to make intra-State supply via e-commerce operators as per the precise conditions.

The information about the scheme would be worked through the law committee of the official. The scheme will get executed with effect from the date 1/01/2023 as per the preparedness on the portal and by ECOs.

“Waiver of requirement of mandatory registration under section 24(ix) of CGST Act for person supplying goods through ECOs, subject to certain conditions, such as- (a) the aggregate turnover on all India basis does not exceed the turnover specified under sub-section (1) of section 22 of the CGST Act and notifications issued thereunder. (b) the person is not making any inter-State taxable supply,” a press release issued by the government stated.

This action aims to boost the unorganized sector. The amendments in the law would get implemented on Jan 1, 2023.

The official would permit the composition dealers to make the intrastate supplies through the e-commerce operators.

In the current times, the sellers who supply via e-commerce operators (ECOs) should compulsorily be enrolled if their average yearly turnover is less than the limit of Rs 40 lakh or Rs 20 lakh.

The sellers who function offline would be permitted the exemption from the registration for the supply of goods and services up to Rs 40 lakh or Rs 20 lakh. The limit amounts would be Rs 20 lakh and Rs 10 lakh in the specified states.
