All the taxpayers are warned by the Income Tax Department of India that they did not disclose their Permanent Account Number on social media. Revealing their ten-digit alphanumeric PAN publicly can lead to its misuse.
The IT Dept is warning taxpayers or assessees owing to mentioning of PAN from a number of taxpayers in the tweets while questioning about ITR processing, ITR refunds, etc on Twitter.
In response to such tweets revealing PAN of respective taxpayers, the Income Tax Department retweets,”…May we also request you not to share personal details like PAN on social media to avoid it being misused!”
In such cases where personal data including PAN are shared by taxpayers on social media, there is a huge possibility of your identity being theft from miscreants and make transactions in your name without your consciousness.
Similarly, the Aadhaar cardholders are also being warned by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for not revealing their 12-digit identity number publicly considering sensitive information. Because, this identity of yours is linked to all the important documents such as PAN card, bank accounts and passport as well.
For your convenience, an online enquiry form is rolled out from the income tax department so that you can make all your tax-related queries and get solutions directly from the I-T department officials.
The form consists of particulars asking for taxpayer’s name, PAN, assessment year of the reported issue, mobile number, email id, your query in detail and social media user id as well.
Primarily, the form concerned the queries related to e-filing of ITR, processing and claiming of the tax refund. Once the form is submitted to the income tax department all your queries or concerns will be solved and answered by the concerned I-T officials soon.
