PCC IT Mumbai: NeAC will Convert Into Faceless Assessment Centre

NeAC will Use for Faceless Tax Assessment

On 13th August 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the faceless assessment scheme for the Income-tax department. This will be set up and implemented by the National e-Assessment Centre (NeAC) and a network of Regional e-Assessment Centres. The regional assessment will include assessment units, verification units, technical units, and review units. The arrangement permits or dynamic jurisdiction, unit-based working, and functional specialization and does away with human collective human interface. This will be initiated by KPMG India and informed by Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai, Shri Patanjali Jha, through a webinar on Faceless Tax Assessment Scheme Know about the government’s newly introduced faceless income tax assessment for providing relief to the taxpayers. Also, check its benefits and working process. read more & Virtual Court Hearings.

The principal chief commissioner has suggested how a 21st-century faceless assessment can compare with the present system. No diplomacy is there in selecting the cases for the assessment as it was before happening manually. The system is now equipped with random allocation of cases instead of single territorial jurisdiction. Also, the notice can be sent through the central mechanism (by NeAC) in electronic mode, though the manual notice can also be issued. No physical meetings will be held between the taxpayers and the officers.

The assessment will be according to the preference and subjective based which will be replaced from team-based assessment along with the system in which the draft order is allotted in one city, the analysis is done in different cities and finalization is accomplished beside another city. The problems will be addressed by the “Pr. CCIT, Mumbai, Chief Commissioner of Income-Tax (ReAC) Mumbai”, Smt. Lekha Kumar and Principal Commissioner of Income-Tax (ReAC), Mumbai, Smt. Ratna Dasgupta.

This faceless assessment scheme is the reason that this webinar is being organised for promoting it within the stakeholders. There were more than 1000 participants in the webinar. For implementing a new working mindset for implementing the faceless assessment the department will do more such programs to educate the taxpayers.

The scheme was announced in the ITD so as to spread out the project in September 2019. A limited number of cases will be chosen for the faceless assessment that was launched in eight centers of the country. The extension to the faceless assessment scheme Before Independence Day, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi with the Principal Chief Commissioners of Income Tax on August 13 had called a meeting. read more will be declared by PM Narendra Modi on 13th August 2020.
