MCA Due Date Extension Demands as Portal Glitches Uncertainty Before 31st Dec

MCA Portal Issues Spark Calls for MCA Due Date Extension Before Dec 31

With only one day remaining before the December 31, 2025 deadline for filing MCA annual returns, frequent technical disruptions on the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) portal have caused widespread concern among tax filers. The outages have shown increasing calls on social media for an urgent extension to ease tax compliance stress on businesses.

Over the weekend, Hundreds of professionals and company filers took to X, posting frequent system crashes, repeated timeouts, and an inability to access the MCA portal. The hashtag “Extend Due Date Immediately” started trending as users cautioned they could miss the statutory deadline due to issues that are not in their control.

The portal was not operative or accessible, which raises concerns of penalties for non-compliance despite attempts to file on time, users mentioned.

A user mentioned that the MCA portal is inoperative. The portal worked only for three days, from December 25 to 28, and very little time is left, due to the uncertainty, stress was affecting health.

The concern of timing has caused frustration. The last date is December 31 to file Annual Form GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C under GST, as well as revised and belated income tax returns, compressing three major compliance requirements into a single day.

A filer cited that it is not justified to put multiple deadlines on one day. GSTR-9 and 9C have become more complex; even small files are taking one day.

Another filer specified the stress- One profession. Three critical deadlines. Zero breathing space. MCA filings, GSTR-9/9C, revised and belated ITRs, all at once. Extension is required, not relief.

The complaints arrived against the backdrop of MCA’s transition to the V3 portal, which professionals say has encountered repeated stability issues since its inception. Filings were only feasible late at night or early morning, indicating load-handling constraints during peak hours, a user wrote.

One user wrote that, according to MCA, we are unaware of the V3 portal. But MCA knows about the repeated system issues. The Professionals and entrepreneurs continue to face the issues.

One user tagged the regulator and the finance ministry, asking about the problems that persisted in normal working hours, while some filers were bound to work at 4 am to complete submissions.

The late annual filings can attract monetary penalties and additional compliance scrutiny under the current rules. As per the professionals, the failures of the system can expose companies to avoidable fines and future regulatory intricacies.

MCA does not declare any official communication where it announces an extension or considers the reported technical issues.

With the deadline approaching, filers say that clarity is urgently needed either through a stable portal or a deadline extension to prevent widespread non-compliance caused by technology failures rather than by intent.
