In the wake of the Corona pandemic and lockdown in Karnataka when production activities have choked and there is a huge cash crunch, Kassia (regulating body of Small Scale Industries) president KB Arasappa has requested the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to give an extension to the deadline for GST payments 
The government has revealed the due dates for the payment of GST. The GST payment due date for general taxpayers is 20th of next month while the GST payment due date. Read more along with the filing of GST returns for the month of March, April and May to June. He further requested the finance minister not to impose any penalty or interest on the late payment in the ongoing crisis due to the lockdown in Karnataka. It is worthwhile mentioning that Karnataka is under lockdown until May 24.
Furthermore, he requested the finance minister to take steps to check that refunds are release on priority. Kassia further added that in the event of the deaths of the supplier, the recipient is not able to get a refund in the case of inverted duty structure or exports. Consequently, this has shocked the small and medium industries.
Lastly and importantly, Kassia has requested the Home Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai who also represents the state of Karnataka on the GST Council to pinpoint and highlight the issues that industries are facing at the Council meeting that is scheduled on May 29.
