Karnataka’s Rooftop Solar Sector Gets a Boost as GST Rate Falls

GST Drop Sparks Boom for Rooftop Solar Dealers in Karnataka

Citizens are taking an interest in installing solar panels in their residences and office spaces since the rate reduction in GST from 12% to 5% is there on renewable energy products.

There is a 10% rise in the queries and a slight rise in bookings concerning solar panels, as per vendors and suppliers.

People are asking about the costs and related queries to solar panels. As the GST has been reduced, there is a 10% rise in inquiries.

Some vendors working with customers who had opted for the PM Surya Ghar Yojana said many people had put their plans on hold after the declaration of the GST rate cut.

“Many of them who had enquired earlier cited that they wished to wait for the GST rate cut to be executed and came back only later. Many new customers are also added,” said a vendor.

The central government under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana has declared a subsidy of up to Rs 78,000 on the installation of rooftop solar panels only in residences.

Interest has risen among people in the Surya Ghar Yojana. Some people think that vendors may adjust the costs in the long run, and they might miss the benefit. Therefore, they desire to get the solar panels installed as soon as possible.
