Goods and Service Tax proceedings have been completed up to 60 percent in its structure, which is habited to implement on next April, but there is some major concern regarding GSTN among the government officials including IRS officers who have given a different sign towards the step which GST council might take.

The IRS officers have given a dis-concern over the matter of collaborating GST data with private organizations and corporates, as the issue occupies the fact that the data provided contains the chances to be leaked and could prove a lethal situation to the Indian government and its economy in the period of crisis.

The IRS officers also met with Finance Minister in the obligation of recommendation currently Indian government is going through of assigning the officials and governing authority in GST council. The alarming reason is that the secret data and taxation policies is a sovereign function of a country and its government and it is not a good thought to share it with the private or local bodies .

In this regard, a CII official told, “The matter was taken up with the Ministry of Finance, which has assured us there will no breach in data security. The Department of Revenue has given an assurance and said there has been no precedent of data being stolen from Ministry of Finance”.

GSTN Chairman Navin Kumar told India today that, “An eight-tier security mechanism will be in place. World’s best tools and software for data security are being deployed for protection. From day one we are aware GSTN will be an attractive target for disruption since it’s a stand-alone system. We have focussed our attention on this aspect. Only authorized persons will have access to the data.”

Shravan Kumar Bansal, General Secretary of Indian Revenue Service Officers Association said, “Government has been apprised of this apprehension and they have assured that all loopholes will be plugged. We hail the government as it has reacted positively and assured of remedial measures as we are all working in the interest of the country.”

Reports suggest that the GSTN will commence the transfer of entity data proposed for service tax, VAT by the next month.
