Indian Government Will Send Notice To GST Defaulters

According to the official sources, Those taxpayers failed to file returns under GST would get an official notification from the government very soon. The government is ready to issue notices to GST defaulters.

Due to the derailment in rules of GST, which includes the e-way bill, matching returns, reverse charge mechanism and so on., taxpayers have found a manner to avoid paying taxes under GST.

The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) had informed to officers until the difficulties were not solved under GST, the taxpayers can adopt an easy taxpayer’s filing system in the new indirect tax reform. Vanaja Sarna, Chairperson of CBEC said in a letter to their officers, “sending out notices to those assessees under your jurisdiction who have failed to file returns may be considered.”

According to the report, the collection of GST was brought down at Rs 83,346 crores in the month of October which was much less than the previous collections. There were two major reasons behind this– GST rates were revised by the Council and the integrated GST used as credit.

According to the government officials, last month tax rates were reduced by the GST Council nearly on 200 items is one of the reasons for influencing GST collections. It has been decided by the GST Council to apply the e waybill in case of interstate movements of goods from 1st February whereas for interstate carriage from 1st June.
