Starting from the GST council meeting on 10 March to first return filing process, the states have been asked to provide suggestions on GST filing procedure. For that, Delhi government has announced two-days long workshops, and Delhi government’s tax department asked to tax department for suggestions.
Traders have suggested to Delhi government so that finance ministry of Delhi, Manish Sisodia can put the suggestions forward to council’s meeting. It is suggested that the details of sale and purchase must be provided without HSN code and detail quantity, especially for small and medium traders it is required to be applied. The system to revise the return is also required as well.
The taxpayers are facing many problems while filing returns and this can be understood by the complaints being received from across the globe. This is the reason the GST council has established IT committee and return committee and prepared two models as well. From the suggestions, it is advisable to file the returns as per invoice wise details as the existing one is a long process. It is also suggested to ask for total value and credit details.
Taxpayers need a single return system, whether it is input tax or output tax. It can be similar to VAT norms as mentioned in form 16. Apart from this, the taxpayers may get time to correct the mismatch errors and the traders can match the details after sometimes. The non-GST details are not required to ask as well. Such as convenience, petrol, and expenses would not be part of GST filing and they would not ask for details about the returns. Due to quantity wise and HSN code wise details, the return process has become long.
