Prime Minister Narendra Modi has communicated to the Chief Secretaries of all States that business entities and traders must register in the new Goods and Service Tax (GST) regime before 15th August.
Prime Minister announced this notification via teleconferencing while conducting the meeting of Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation (PRAGATI) and interacts with secretaries of state governments and also stated that GST has been rolled out on 1st July in the country and the traders of all states will be required to register in the new indirect tax regime before 15th August.
In the meeting, Prime Minister also assessed the problems or grievances related to the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and the Directorate of Estates and asked the urban development ministry to mention it with extra force.
He has communicated to all the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) to appreciate all vendors, to come onboard at Government e-Marketplace (GeM) platform. Apart from this Modi also assessed the long unfinished infrastructure projects in the meeting for the states – Karnataka, Odisha, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh.

The project was assessed on Wednesday including the third line of Chennai Beach-Korukkupet and fourth line of Chennai Beach-Attippattu; the Howrah-Amta-Champadanga new Broad Gauge line and four- lanning of Varanasi and Muzaffarnagar-Haridwar section of NH-58 were also assessed.
Prime Minister Modi said in a statement, “Noting that several of the projects reviewed today has been pending for decades, and in one case, over four decades, the prime minister urged all chief secretaries to take all possible steps to avoid delays and resulting cost escalations.”
During the meeting, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (Urban) was also reviewed by the Prime Minister and has requested to all chief secretaries to take desirable actions and avoid delays in infrastructure projects and stop increasing the cost of the projects.
