In a recent record and tweet shared by revenue secretary Hansmukh Adhia itself, the government had successfully collected a revenue of INR 94,016 crores for the month of May 2018. The collections are more than the previous year time period i.e. 89,885 crores.

Also, the collections of GST of 94,016 crores is less than the 1,03,458 crores of April month. It is known from the records that the GST collection of the April month is known to be the largest of all.

In the month of May 2018, the total revenue collection came at 94,016 crores in which the Central GST collection was 15,866 crores while the collections of State GST came at 21,691 crores. Integrated GST collections came at 49,120 crores including imports 24,447 crores and taxes of 7339 crores including 854 crores on imports.

The revenue secretary mentioned that the implementation of GST E Way Bill has shown that the compliance was effective which ultimately made the collective far better than the previous collections.

In a tweet, the Hansmukh Adhia told that the returns filed from April to May were close to 62.46 lakhs while previously the number of returns filed from March to April was 60.47 lakhs.

According to some reports, the April month collections were higher due to the March closing, so all the taxpayers had tried to file the returns before the year ending in order to avoid any penalties.
