To address the issues relating to the technical glitches faced by taxpayers in the implementation of goods and services tax (GST), a five member Group of Ministers (GoM) has been constituted by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Additionally, a committee on exports to determine the steps which help to support the export sector.
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister, Sushil Kumar Modi elected a head of five member Group of Ministers (GoM), in order to monitor and fix the issues relating to the IT issues faced by traders after the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Most state finance ministers had raised issues relating to the IT glitches and problems being faced by taxpayers in filing returns due to the technical bugs at GSTN portal. Recently, the deadlines for filing GST returns has been extended by the government two times. Namely GSTR-1, GSTR-2 and GSTR-3 all were extended by 10th October, 31st October and 10th November respectively.
A Group of Ministers (GoM) members including Chhattisgarh’s commercial taxes minister, Amar Agarwal, Kerala finance minister, Thomas Isaac, Karnataka’s agriculture minister, Krishna Byregowda, Telangana finance minister, Etela Rajender.
“The GoM will be assisted in its work by the Chairman, Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) and the Chief Executive Officer, GSTN.” According to the official statement said on Tuesday, Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia has been elected as the head of the Committee on exports, which looks out to address the issues relating to the export sector and propose some suitable strategies to the GST Council which helps the export sector definitely.
The Committee on Export members including DGFT director general, Director general of Export Promotion from the Central government, CBEC chairperson and member (customs), GST Council’s additional secretary and also commissioners of commercial taxes from the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal, Karnataka, and UP.
