FM to Meet with Enforcement Chiefs for Combating GST Evasion

Discussion for Stopping Fake GST Invoicing

A conference of GST enforcement chiefs shall be inaugurated by FM Nirmala Sitharaman and the meeting will discuss fighting evasion, among other issues.

The one-day conference is intended to combat bogus invoicing. It will address this primary form of GST evasion and strategize useful methods to fight it jointly.

The meeting is anticipated to motivate the knowledge exchange via presentations by state and central enforcement heads, mentioning their successful strategies and innovative methods to handle tax evasion.

It will investigate the ongoing challenges and delve into successful procedures employed by both state and central enforcement authorities to combat evasion.

“Embracing the spirit of cooperative federalism as exemplified by GST, this conference serves as a valuable platform for both Centre and state GST enforcement authorities to share best practices, foster mutual learning, and collectively strengthen the GST administration,” as per the statement from the finance ministry.

It will also facilitate developing collaboration and promote more amazing synergy between state and central enforcement authorities, assuring a unified and extensive approach.

It is to be anticipated in the meeting to analyze the advanced technological tools and data analytics potential to increase the preciseness and efficiency of the efforts of the enforcement. Big data and artificial intelligence methods are initiated by the Department of Revenue to enhance surveillance and plug loopholes.

By 12.5% year-on-year gross GST revenue has surged to Rs 1.7 lakh cr in February month upholding the effective pace in the receipts as the growth remains stronger.
