Recently the exporters charged allegation against the government for not clearing GST refund claims of around 22,000 crores as the finance ministry itself dismissed the facts stating them “exaggerated” and “inaccurate”.

In a statement released by the ministry, it said that “A large number of exporters have been granted refunds so far while a few claims are still pending owing to deficiencies found in the claims.”

Earlier the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) alleged that the government had stuck almost 22,000 crores in which 15,000 crore is of input tax credit (ITC) while the remaining of approx 8,000 crores of the integrated GST refunds.

The finance ministry statement further said that “These figures being put out in the public domain are exaggerated and thus inaccurate.”

The ministry cleared that they have disposed almost 92.68% (Rs 38,824 crore) of the total IGST refund claims (Rs 41,889 crore) referred in the customs from the GSTN portal.

It said, “The remaining claims amounting to Rs 3,065 crore are held up on account of various deficiencies which have been communicated to exporters for remedial action.”

While concerning the RFD-01A (ITC refund) claims with the Centre and states, there are only 2,077 crores pending and in the case of refund claims, 39,372 crores received and provisional/final order has been considered and issued for the refund amount of 32,345 crores.
