Due Date for House Tax May or May Not Get Extended with 5% Discount

House Tax Due Date

Due to Lok Sabha elections and multiple holidays falling in line, citizens are in demand to extend the due date of depositing the property tax further by one month from now applicable 30th April 2019.

The house tax department has offered a 5 per cent discount on the house tax if paid by 30th April, and the citizens are in a bid to save this 5 per cent of another month.

The citizens are pressing the point that there are elections ongoing while holidays in the middle time period will make it tough for them to pay out the taxes.

Also, they said the online payment of house tax may also be not feasible due to the non-responsive government website where the servers do not process the transactions.

As per the citizen, “There is a huge difference in the tax amount this year. We’ve to find out the difference in the tax amount from the ward office, get a challan from there and pay it in the bank. I’ve been to the ward office four or five times in the last two weeks, but the staff members are out on election duty.”

However, it is to be noticed that the discount of 5 per cent may only be applicable if the citizens pay the tax before 30th April, while the due date may be extended with no discount offer.
