Amazon Gets Show Cause Notice by DGGI Over Illegal GST ITC Refund

The Director-General of GST intelligence (DGGI) provides a show-cause notice to e-commerce company Amazon India to avail of the input tax credit. Rs 175 cr is raised through GST intelligence, as determined from the sources.

DGGI Sent Show Cause Notice to Amazon

The investigation through DGGI has found errors in the computation developed by the e-commerce company. As per the sources Amazon had furnished higher goods and services tax (GST) and therefore availed the refund rather it wrongly availed ITC on the appeal of more tax slab.

Director-General of GST intelligence (DGGI) issues a show-cause notice requiring the interest due on wrongly GST ITC refund. But Amazon has not answered the email provided to the company on the concern. Post-DGGI has conducted an investigation with respect to cab operators Uber and Ola concerning GST theft and has ordered the council to the companies for GST evasion on the account of hundreds of crores.

Amazon tech an e-commerce giant is the company who has been involved in claiming the ITC refund from the Indian government and urged to be answered for the same. DGGI also questioned the company for claiming the ITC. Similar to the case the E-kart who manages the orders of Flipkart also has alleged the fake ITC A survey is initiated at the offices of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Ltd. which comes under the tax examination with respect to the 2 organizations by the Directorate General of GST Intelligence.
