Delhi Govt Target GST Collection

The Delhi government has targeted GST collection of Rs 29,000 crore for the year 2019-20. The government made the announcement of targeting GST collection figures on the same day of introducing the annual budget.

While introducing the annual budget in the Delhi Assembly Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia stated that the implementation of GST is a “significant step in the field of indirect tax reforms” which subsumed various central and state taxes into a unified tax.

He further added that “Keeping in view the growth in Delhi’s economy, the target of GST collection in the budget estimates for the year 2019-20 is Rs 29,000 crore with estimated growth of 9.44 percent over the revised estimate of Rs 26,500 crore in 2018-19.”

The government had collected a total revenue of Rs 20,766.77 (up to January 31, 2019) from GST – out of which an amount of Rs 3,140 crore has been collected as GST compensation till January 2019.

A total of 1,14,282 users had registered under GST Law in between April 1, 2018, to December 2018. He stated that over two lakh new users were registered themselves for the year 2017-18.

The AAP government has presented a Rs 60,000 crore for the annual budget 2019-20 which is to be positioned for the education, health and transport sectors and stated that it is “two times more” in comparison of 2014-15 annual budget.
