Revenue Dept To Set Committee Over E Way Bill Evasion

E-Way Bill Evasion

The revenue department has reported an e-way bill scam worth Rupees 5 thousand crores. The e-bill system has been brought into action last year by the Government. As per rules, for the transport of goods from one state to another having worth value of Rs. 50,000 or more, an e-way bill is required to be compulsorily generated. As the system is about to complete its one year, many cases of fake e-bill have come in light resulting in tax evasion of almost 5000 crore rupees.

According to a news agency PTI, an official said, “From April there have been many cases of bogus e-bill and fake invoice. In total, tax evasion of Rs 5,000 crore has been detected.”

The Revenue department is all set to deal with this issue and in this context, a committee of tax officials is formed. Thus the Government, who has always been very strict on the tax evasion topic, is not in a mood to let the tax evaders exempt. This committee would suggest measures which could be helpful in dealing with such fake bills. It has been informed by the officials that a committee of officials for the centre and the state would be formed separately who would be analyzing the method of fake bill creation and will be suggesting ways to prevent the system against it.
