The issues which negatively influence the e-filing portal of the income tax department are now solved and the performance of the portal is now stable, the Central Board of Direct Taxes pointed out. The portal has a receipt with an additional 2 cr ITR dated 13th Oct commented by CBDT.
The revised portal i.e www.incometax.gov.in was driven on 7th June and at the start of the period, the assessee had reported the issues and hardships in the functioning of the portal. “A number of technical issues have since been resolved and the performance of the portal has substantially stabilized,” CBDT pointed.
There are 13.44 cr afresh assessees who have logged in till 13th Oct. There are nearly 54.70 lakh assessees who claimed for the facility of forgetting passwords so that their password shall be revealed when they lost it.
All kinds of ITR are to be available towards e-filing. More than 2 cr ITR has been furnished on the portal for the AY 2021-22 where 86% is the tax returns ITR1 and ITR4.
“It is encouraging to note that more than 1.70 crore returns have been e-verified, out of which 1.49 crore are through Aadhaar based one-time password. The process of e-verification through Aadhaar one time password and other methods is important for the department to commence processing of the ITR and to issue refunds if any,”
Out of validated income tax returns 1 and 4 there are nearly 1.06 cr returns that have been performed and above 36.22 lakh refunds for the AY 2021-22 are provided. The process of ITR2 and ITR3 shall soon be available.
“The Income Tax Department strongly urges all taxpayers to view their Form 26AS through the e-filing portal to verify the accuracy of the tax deducted at source and tax payments and avail of pre-filling of ITRs. All taxpayers who are yet to file their Income Tax returns for AY 2021-22 are requested to file their returns at the earliest,” CBDT stated.
