Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai ensured the farmer leaders that he will see the need for exemption of the fertilizers, pesticides, drip irrigation material, and agro products from the GST net. Bommai specified that he will write to the center and press for the GST exemption in the interest of the farming community.
He was talking with the farmer leaders post to obtain the memorandum via prominent farmer organization at the round table meeting. The farmers mentioned that the central government, which provides the subsidy on one side, is also levying the GST on the agro products and fertilizers and they suffer a lot of problems.
When the farmers detailed him on the life insurance cover for Rs 36 lakh farmers in Telangana, who used to pay Rs 2600 premium per annum that gets Rs 5 lakh financial advantage in case of the untimely death, said Bommai.
Karnataka Sugarcane Growers association president Kurbur Shanthakumar specified that the board has pushed for the MSP of all the agriculture produce and said that the farmers have been let down as their produce was not bought on the MSP declared. The government called that it will open ragi procurement centers and ensured it will purchase 100 kilos for Rs 3200 via every farmer, who has bought lower than 10% of the ragi produce. The same will forced farmers to sell the ragi at an imposed cost to traders and the commission agents in the villages and nearby towns.

The round table conference, which talks about the issues of the cane growers and the factories denying fair remunerative cost to farmers, requested the chief minister to stay on the factories to provide justice.
Shanthakumar specified the price of the cultivation has much more, the potash available at Rs 900 per bag is now being sold at a cost of Rs 1950 per bag. The impact on the cost of the horticulture crops has increased the suffering of the farming community, which is yet to recover from higher losses that have been suffered in the lockdown phase.
