BJP’s stubborn attitude made Deadlock over GST: Congress

Recently, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said about the opposition party that we hope the Congress should be to not disrupt the Parliament in this year. In return, the Congress took a dig at the NDA saying our party did not disrupt Parliament and the BJP’s “stubborn attitude” was behind the deadlock over the GST Bill.

Ex. Finance Minister, P Chidambaram said on Friday, “What did the Prime Minister say … we will come back to you after reflecting within the government. That’s almost a month now. We have not received the written response of the government or the revised formulation of the government on the three principal objections.”

He Further added, “It is the government’s stubborn and unbending attitude. How did Parliament pass so many bills if we were disrupting all the work?”

Mr. Chidamabaram told, “The ball is entirely in the government’s court and it is for them to come back and tell us whether they accepting our objection (on GST bill), whether they are revising formulation, whether they are amending sections.”

The main opposition party does demand to remove 1 % extra tax on inter-state sale of goods and services, Supreme Court judge headed dispute resolution panel and reasonable GST rate. He told the reporters that “We will not support a flawed GST.”
