The most cherished deal taking place currently on Indian shores is about Apple Inc to start their manufacturing plants here in India and to establish a home origin gadget distribution for the country. The plan to set up this gigantic production facility will not only provide the country locals with pocket-friendly devices but will also increase the economic situation of the nation.
In between the talks, there are fewer chances to consider all of the demands and exemptions called by the Apple on its countervailing duty (CVD) as the new proposed GST regime will give it a tough thought. Hasmukh Adhia, revenue secretary said that “There is no way we can give individual exemptions under GST regime, All of them (CVD exemptions) will go, Make in India will get a big boost, We have been unfair to local industry. I don’t know what exactly is Apple’s demand as DIPP (Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion) is dealing with them. But we have limitations on giving exemptions under GST.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen declaring the commencement of Apple’s manufacturing locality in Bengaluru as soon as possible, but the insider officers have cleared that the company is still going under discussion, with the government authorities. Hasmukh Adhia also told that the final decision on the issue of IGST exemption is in the hands of GST council.
Apple has been targeting mainly on the CVD and modified special incentive package scheme (M-SIPS) for the localization and establishment of its manufacturing plants and these exemptions will help her to import the electronic components at a much-reduced price to integrate. The talks are still on the way, but the overall expectation is positive as the government is also trying to enforce the Make in India concept and the growing star will surely prove its best when the world renowned organization Apple puts its hands in the campaign.
