In a letter to the chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC), Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers), urged an extension of the GST amnesty scheme and the due date for filing Form 9 (Annual Return) and Form 9C (Reconciliation Statement).
The request takes into account the challenges faced by registered taxpayers, including large enterprises, MSMEs, and professionals, in meeting compliance deadlines.
Technical challenges on the GST portal have been highlighted by the President of AP Chambers Potluri Bhaskara Rao, and General Secretary B Rajasekhar, the rising compliance load on tax professionals, frequent amendments, and economic disruptions that have affected businesses’ ability to submit the returns within the said time.
The MSMEs in particular are facing issues because of restricted resources and complexities in GST reconciliation. They outlined that the interdependence of Form 9 and Form 9C filings needs both due dates to be extended to ensure precision.
They asked CBIC to extend the GST Amnesty scheme and push the due date for Form 9 and Form 9C to June 30, 2025. The extension shall furnish businesses the required time for compliance assisting the government to generate revenue via timely filings.
They asked CBIC to regard the request favourably and announce an extension as soon as possible to prevent difficulties for businesses and tax professionals.
