Odisha & Maharashtra States GST Revenue Collection in April 2021

The exchequer of Maharashtra and Indian Government, recently been filled by means of GST collection in the month of April, has increased by INR 22,012 crore that is historical in the sense that it has been highest since the introduction of GST (in July 2017) and that too in the second wave of Corona Pandemic and lockdown style restriction.

Now elaborating the GST collection in the month of April has increased by 380% in comparison to April 2020, the same time of lockdown last year. Putting it another way, The GST collection in Maharashtra in the month of April 2021 has increased by 29% more than the GST collection of March 2021.

Just to make it clear GST can further be categorized in SGST, CGST, IGST, and cess. The reason attributed to this historical figure can be attributed to the month of March which is the end of the financial year and it is the month wherein companies undertake stock clearance and this usually reflects in higher GST revenues in the month of April.

The senior official of Maharashtra quoted “The impact of the lockdown-style curbs in Maharashtra will actually be seen in the May GST collections,”

Recalling history in a hurry, In April 2018, the GST collection was INR 16,727 crore in Maharashtra, whereas in April 2019, it soared to INR 18,123 crore.

“In that sense, the record-breaking receipts for April 2021 were on expected lines. GST collection for April has been growing by INR 2,000 crore each year. Last year was an anomaly because of the national lockdown, the officer said.”

Odisha Also Achieved GST Collection on Top

Odisha has revealed a collection of Rs 3,849.48 crore in April this year it is the highest every GST collection of the state despite viscousness due to pandemic, the collection is more with respect to Rs 2,955.60 crore accumulated in April 2019 and ₹774.29 cr gathered during April 2020.
