Haryana Achieve 5th Place with 18.3% Growth in GST Collection Sep 2023

Haryana has achieved a significant milestone in Goods and Service Tax (GST) collection, securing the fifth position among the top states in the country

With a notable growth of 18.3%, the state recorded a total tax collection of ₹32,076 crore during the first six months of the current financial year (April-September 2023), compared to ₹27,155 crore collected during the same period the previous year.

The tax collection breakdown reveals that Value Added Tax (VAT) collections amounted to ₹5,568 crore, while State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) collections, including Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) settlements and SGST compensation, reached ₹20,670 crore, showcasing an impressive growth rate of 27%. Additionally, the excise duty collection witnessed a growth of 16.3% and reached ₹5,757 crore, according to the official statement.

Acknowledging the significance of digitalization in tax collection processes, an official spokesperson emphasized the department’s commitment to completely eliminating revenue leakages while maximizing collections.

The spokesperson further stated that the department is dedicated to achieving its revenue collection target of ₹57,931 crore, as outlined in the state budget. This focus on such efficient tax collection methods demonstrates the state’s proactive approach to revenue management.
