New GST Seva Kendram and Vision & Mission of Taxes Department

Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy inaugurated a GST Seva Kendram and unveiled the Vision and Mission of the Commercial Taxes Department. Additionally, he introduced a compendium comprising Standard Operating Procedures (SoP), circulars, and peer learning material linked to State tax matters. The event took place on Monday.

The primary goal of the GST Seva Kendram is to combat fraudulent GST registrations by implementing Aadhaar-based biometric authentication.

Mr. Rajendranath Reddy also launched GST Mithra, an initiative designed to pinpoint and rectify discrepancies in tax returns while promoting voluntary compliance.

During the ceremony, Mr. Rajendranath Reddy highlighted that the gross GST collection in November exhibited a remarkable 31% growth compared to the same period last year, surging from ₹3,134 crore to ₹4,093 crore.

Andhra Pradesh (AP) took the lead, outpacing other states like Karnataka (17% increase), Tamil Nadu (20%), Telangana (18%), and Kerala (20%) in GST collection. The GST revenue, excluding compensation, for the fiscal year 2023-24 until November 2023 reached Rs. 21,181 crore, achieving 90% of the targeted goal.

Subsequently, the Minister honoured 195 commendable officers and staff from various categories within the department with Incentive Awards.
