APMRSU & FMRAI Demand GST Exemption on Medicines

On Wednesday, the Andhra Pradesh Medical and Sales Representatives Union (APMRSU) and the Federation of Medical Representatives Associations of India (FMRAI) held a protest, urging the government to lower medicine and medical device prices and exempt them from Goods and Services Tax (GST).

U.V. Krishnaiah, the State general secretary of APMRSU, highlighted that medical and sales representatives nationwide were actively engaged in a one-day strike.

These representatives’ associations have persistently advocated against multiple transformations occurring in the pharmaceutical sector in recent years, presenting a set of five demands as their charter.

Among their additional requests are the repeal of the labour code and the reinstatement of the Sales Promotion Employees (Condition of Service) Act.
