Justices N Sesha Sayee and Mohammad Faiz Alam Khan have recently been appointed by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) to serve as Judicial Members of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), a move that will likely impact the tribunal’s functioning.
From the date they assume office or till they attain the age of 67, their tenure will span four years, whichever comes first.
With the addition of these justices, the NCLAT has now reached its complete sanctioned strength of 12 members, including the Chairperson, Judicial Members, and Technical Members, potentially enhancing its operational efficiency.

Through its principal bench in New Delhi, the tribunal operates, alongside a regional bench in Chennai, to cater to litigants from southern India. Former Supreme Court judge Justice Ashok Bhushan is the Chairperson of the NCLAT at present.
Profile of Justice N Sesha Sayee, Judicial Member of NCLAT
Born on January 8, 1963, in Mancompu, Kerala, Justice N Sesha Sayee pursued his undergraduate studies in Economics at Scott Christian College, Nagercoil, and earned his law degree from Madras Law College in 1986. He enrolled as an advocate that same year. In 2004, he was appointed as a direct district judge. Justice Sesha Sayee was elevated to the Madras High Court as an Additional Judge on November 16, 2016, and became a Permanent Judge on November 2, 2018. He retired on January 7, 2025, after serving the High Court for over eight years.
Introducing Justice Mohammad Faiz Alam Khan
Born on January 26, 1963, Justice Mohammad Faiz Alam Khan’s legal career began with a law degree in 1986, leading to his entry into the Higher Judicial Service in 2005. A significant milestone was his elevation to District & Sessions Judge in 2016. He further served with distinction at the Allahabad High Court, first as an Additional Judge from November 2018 and then as a Permanent Judge from November 2020 until his retirement on January 25, 2025.
