GST Portal Faces Outage Amid User Complaints on Social Media

Social Media Abuzz with Complaints Over GST Portal Outage

For most of the day, the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) portal has been down. It became an issue as thousands of businesses in India use it to file their monthly tax papers, particularly GSTR-1 forms.

Tax professionals have observed that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) portal, which is managed by Infosys, has been experiencing a number of technical difficulties.

Users trying to log in or upload invoice data frequently encounter issues such as Gateway Timeout (504) errors, ongoing Service Unavailable messages, and session timeouts that occur shortly after successful login attempts. These persistent problems are affecting the efficiency and usability of the portal for its users.

This issue has wasted much time since tax practitioners repeatedly tried to access the system. On X (formerly Twitter), a social media platform, complaints targeted the GST Helpdesk and technical operator Infosys have been flooded, asking to solve the problem.

The portal disruption complaint has been made by taxpayers on the social media X (formerly Twitter) by tagging Infosys and the GST helpdesk. An unnecessary burden on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) has been placed by the repeated system failure, which frequently lacks the resources to manage last-minute compliance rushes that has caused by technical issues.

The accrual of late fees and penalties is because of system failure, rather than the taxpayer. It has generated anxiety.

No official update has arrived from these complaints on social media platforms concerning the resolution of the services, either by Infosys or GSTN. Anxiety is added from such factors for the taxpayers to comply with.

Taxpayers must issue a formal statement citing the cause of the disruption of the GSTN portal and be asked to take action for its restoration. The situation specifies that the GST website that manages the money of India would be required to be robust and reliable.

One more day needs to be provided for the filing of the ITR post the issue of the income tax portal for the complete day, which makes taxpayers stressed and anxious.
