Recently, there was discontentment within the finance ministry over the Tax revenues collected by the separate authorities including state and central government. The ministry is questioning the poor performance of the central government tax officials when compared to the officials of state government.

The revenue secretary himself shared some figures related to the collection of revenues by both central and state government employees based on the online platform of GSTN.

While counting an average of tax collections done in April, the central government employees were far behind the performance of the state government employees.

It is to be noticed that the central government employees have done better in the area of returns refund which is still suspecting as there might be claims higher than the actual in the regions namely, Jammu and Kashmir, Meghalaya, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Tamil Nadu.

The revenue secretary has urged to the senior ministry officials to call up the central government employees to be focused upon their work and try to bring some better performance in the work.

The GSTN works under both the central and state government as the systems are structured in such a manner that the taxpayer’s data is equally distributed and analyzed by the centre and state accordingly.
