Rajasthan Becomes Third State to Pass SGST Bill

Recently after a big disruption caused by a fraternity of MLA’s in the Rajasthan assembly, which evoked the speaker and other head ministers to suspend them for initial one year, the assembly has been finally able to pass the state goods and service tax successfully. This is the third one in the row after the Telangana and Bihar passing the SGST bill in their respective assemblies.

Let alone, Congress MLA, Pradhyumn Singh, remaining all the members of parliament supported the bill and has maintained the significance of the bill. With this, all the tax laws affiliated to the value added tax (VAT), entertainment tax, entry tax of goods, luxury tax and others will now be absorbed in the upcoming SGST law.

The industry minister Rajpal Singh Shekhawat gave a long statement in which he covered almost every inch of detail, “the day would be remembered in history and state had contributed to accelerating the country’s GDP, The complexity in taxes was a tax in itself. The GST is aimed to reduce these complexities and turn the country’s into a developing economy Under the garb of GST, the Centre will not be able to operate arbitrarily. States will have a much larger say as the council has one-third of its members from the Union government and two-thirds from state governments. This will strengthen co-operative federalism.”

Along with this he also took the notice towards the state and its sovereignty will not be disintegrated. The Rajasthan state has seen a successful migration of over 4.24 lakh tax paying entities into the GST until now and is hopeful for further advancement. All the required infrastructure is being developed and will be soon available for the taxpayer community to avail its services.

The new SGST law will be imposing the duties on all the interstate supply of goods and services leaving liquor and petroleum products as of now. Rajpal also put the concern over the unidentified method of compensation if in the case of cess collections drop down in a state. And also made a concern over the cottage and small scale industries which will be heavily impacted by the GST effects and have to compromise accordingly.

Also the BJP MLA from Shiv Sena, Manvendra Singh suggested some resolutions over canteen stores which serves defense personnel and retired officials and demanded to keep them out of the GST framework. And also wanted to take the notice of young men who are serving in the defense would be affected and appropriate steps must be taken for them
