Karnataka Gets 2nd Place in GST Collection

The state of Karnataka has left behind Gujarat in the goods and services tax collections in the first 6 months of this financial year and stands in the 2nd place after Maharashtra among states.

In the same period of the former year, Gujarat was the second in GST collections and Karnataka was third.

Concerning the growth, the State Karnataka has replaced all the bigger states including Maharashtra since May of the current year. commissioner C Shikha attributed the southern state’s strong performance to better compliance by dealers as well as increased vigilance by authorities.

Karnataka’s commercial taxes commissioner C Shikha is liable for the performance of the southern state for the effective compliance that the dealer has followed including the rise in the monitoring via authorities.

Bengaluru the capital of Karnataka has furnished an overwhelming performance that left behind the national capital Delhi to appear as the 2nd highest direct tax-paying city after Mumbai in the former fiscal year (2021-22).

In the current financial year, Karnataka’s total GST collection stood at Rs 59,035 crore in the initial 6 months was still less than half of Maharashtra’s Rs 1,32,544 crore. Regarding this Gujarat stood at Rs 56,679 crore.

In the goods and service tax collections, Karnataka reported 60% (vs 44% all India) growth in the same duration of last year in May, 73% (56%) in June, 45% (22%) in July, 29% (19%) in August and 25% (22%) in September. For the first half of this financial year, 38% was the rise compared to the former year.

As per the data of the government, the tax collection growth for both Karnataka and Maharashtra was faster compared to the national average in September month.

GST collection on the national account has remained stronger. India’s monthly GST revenues have exceeded Rs 1.4 lakh crore for the successive 7 months in a row this calendar year. It was 27% growth till September in the calendar year over the same duration of the former year.

It is a transparent impact of several actions that the GST council has taken to ensure effective compliance as per the former statement via the union finance ministry. This positive impact on the GST revenue on a constant basis is because of the effective reporting linked with economic recovery.

The Finance Ministry has praised the stronger collections to the GST portal for being error-free. In the month of September, the GST portal attains more than 11 million e-way bills and GST e-invoices generated.
