GSTN Started Calling Taxpayers and Asking Filing Experience on GSTN Portal

To make the tax the technology backbone more effective and convenient, the GSTN portal has started taking feedback from the taxpayers by calling taxpayers and asking them about their experience at the GSTN portal.

Ajay Bhushan Pandey, Chairman of GSTN said that nearly 500 calls per day are being made through the call centre, enquiring experience from taxpayers which have filed their returns under GST.

Pandey told to media reporters, “In the GST system, we constantly keep on collecting feedback from the public. We also do surveys every day and proactively call businesses which have filed returns. We ask for their experience and where they had difficulty.”

Businesses those have chosen composition scheme for July-September quarter will soon get their first returns under GST.

GSTN Portal is an IT backbone, which is accountable for registration, monthly or quarterly filings of businesses. The company had started a call centre and advertised the helpline number for the ease of taxpayers and queries related to registration.

Some employees from the call centre have been allotted work to take feedback from the businesses those are paying taxes and filing returns on the GSTN portal.

“This GSTN system is a new system and people need to get used to this. So to that extent, we have to be alive to the problems faced by businesses and their experiences and how we can better their experience. At this time our whole priority is to address the current problems and make the things very smooth.” said Pandey.

Indirect Taxation Regime was implemented from 1st July across the country. The returns of July, August, and September month was nearly filed by 50 lakh businessmen and the government had collected revenue of Rs 95,000 crore, over Rs 90,000 crore and over Rs 92,150 crore respectively.
