GST Becomes Heavy on Pockets of Students and Hostellers

Goods and service tax started its effect on a lot of industries and sectors which are extending their services to the large base of the population across the nation. As a matter of fact earlier there was a 6% tax on the restaurants while in the GST scenario it has been increased to 18% on AC restaurants, giving a hiked impact on the overall community of students in the metro.

Many of the students and corporate workers have shared their experience after GST and showed up the whole scenario which has been changed as earlier they were managing their monthly expenses in a decent manner but now it would take a little more money to manage themselves. In recent findings, it has been speculated the hostellers and student community out in metros has been hit hard by the impact of GST as it has raised the eating cost day to day expenses.

Some of the young people also said that healthy food is also under the GST ambit and has gained a little advantage of their pockets. Service tax has been increased by 3% which was earlier 15% taking a toll over the various sectors which are extending their Business through services.

This also includes education, hostels and restaurants where many of the young generation completes the day after coming from colleges. But the colleges can give some sort of relief to the students by waiving off a yearly increase in education fees which was earlier up to a scale of 7 to 8%.
