Amazon’s Bill to Ship Feature for Solving GST Credit Issues

In a customer-centric approach, the world’s biggest e-commerce company Amazon has now rolled out the facility of “Bill to Ship” which is basically providing GST credit from across the states even if the Amazon Business customer had only one GSTIN in a single state.

This move has been taken to offer a better indirect office expense management for the amazon business customer who wants to ship across the country but having only one or few states GST registration Under GST regime, registration is the foremost and the essential step for existing taxpayers as without registration they would not get GSTIN number which is a basic identity number of a taxpayer.

Until now the GST invoices were only available to the amazon business customers who have GSTIN registration of the state where the order is shipped. As per the amazon statement, “customer inconvenience as the billing address on the invoices were same as shipping address and customers who did not have GSTIN for shipping address could not claim GST Input tax credit for such orders”.

This news feature will help all the amazon business customers to get the GST invoice for the whole business array by using the latest address i.e. invoice billing address which will be available on the checkout window.

The peter George of amazon business mentioned that “With the launch of the ‘Bill to Ship to’ feature we have taken a lead in solving this unique customer problem and offered a solution which allows them to claim GST credit on their billing address for their pan-India shipments. This convenient feature allows customers to consolidate the tax credit to one state and make use of GST credit more effectively”.

Currently, the Amazon business is the largest platform for the products showcasing crores of products to the customers across the country on the portal. The introduction of such a service will facilitate the MSMEs who were earlier only relied on the home-based state of shipping for the input tax credit.
