After the introduction of the GST Regime, the ability of the GST Portal to file returns
As per the recent update, the capacity of the portal has been doubled up. The earlier capacity of the portal was one and a half lakh returns per hour, but now around 3 lakh returns are expected to be filled in an hour. This improvement will surely help traders/ taxpayers to file returns.
The capacity of the portal was one and a half lakh per hour, and Business Organizations were facing several types of problems during filing returns, sometimes the server goes down and sometimes it lags along with several other problems. Due to all these problems business organizations were seeking to increase the capacity of the portal for a long time from the Government and GST council meeting
If the traders or business houses fail to file the return on the due date, they have to pay ₹. 50 per day as a late fee. Even at the present time, late fees is being charged for filing return of May, June. Thus, one more change traders and business organizations are waiting for is the removal of the late fee system by December 31st.
Meanwhile, In the matter of increasing the capacity of the portal, Mahendra Goyal, State President of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAT) stated that ”increasing the capacity of the portal will help traders to some extent in filing GST returns
