During GST regime, in only fortnight duration, around 18.4 lakh e-way bills are generated during goods transportation. The trial of GST e-way bill generation is initiated from 16 January.
The registration has been also started during this time. On 30 January itself was 3.4 lakh e-way bills were generated. For transporters, the e-way bill processing will be compulsory from 1 February 2018.
From now, the goods transporting from one state to other states covering more than 10 kilometres will require an e-way bill mandatorily. As per the rules, only orders worth more than Rs. 50,000 are liable to carry e-way bill along with.

The government believes that after e-way bill implication, it will be quite helpful to limit tax evasion. Prakash Kumar, CEO at Goods and Services Network said that on 30 January, e-way bills were generated in large numbers.
The government expects this to be continued in future. Taxpayers understand this arrangement and this time we can expect fewer hurdles in e-way bill processing like the GST implementation.
