Unstable GST Portal Opens Different Account Even Login ID Entered Correct

After the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) Regime on 1st July, several taxpayers are complaining that their personal data and information is combining with the others at the time of login into GSTN portal. For this, I-T department is blaming to tax practitioners for registering multiple entities at one time.

As per the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) in Mumbai, several cases came out in a circular “taxpayers are complaining that when they are logging into their account using their login credentials, they are diverted to some others account on GST portal and the data of another taxpayer is displayed in that account”.

As per the tax department, these are some cases in which the registration or enrolment of the business entity has been created by the same tax practitioner. Tax department further added that “This happens when a tax practitioner opens multiple windows on his/her computer in the same browser for different taxpayers. The data while filing up the application form resides in the cache memory of the computer and such mishap happens.”

All tax practitioners must sure that they don’t open so many registrations or enrollment window at a single time, has been informed by the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC). By adding that, “after completing one case, clear the cache memory of the computer system before initiating second registration/ enrollment process”.

Till now nearly 69 lakh excise, VAT, and Service Tax payers have migrated from old tax regime into Goods and Services Tax Regime and about 5 lakh fresh registrations have registered in the new indirect tax regime. GST came into existence on 1st July across the country which replaces several taxes such as excise, service, and VAT and transformed India into a common unified market.

The Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has already informed to business entities and companies they must register under the Goods and Services Tax Regime (GST) before 30th July. If in a case a business holds valid PAN, email id and a mobile number then they register for GST via online at the common portal at https://www.gst.gov.in/ and also file an application.

In the case of registration of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and the businesses who are dealing with vertical businesses with a single PAN, in such cases, taxpayers must use the different mobile number and email id for single business vertical said in a circular of CBEC.
