Almost 30 Percent Taxpayers Missed GST Return Filing in December 2018

The Jammu & Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) conducted a meeting on 13 February 2019 wherein the president Rakesh Gupta called the commissioner commercial taxes PK Bhat in the office to discuss the issues relating to GST returns.

PK Bhat, commissioner commercial taxes informed to the members of chamber team that 30 percent of taxpayers did not file the GST returns of December (2018 month. Furthermore, 8 percent of taxpayers are those who haven’t filed even a single return since the implementation of GST. He stated to President of Chamber, dealers whose returns are ‘NIL’ must file their returns on time.

The president of the chamber appealed to the commissioner commercial taxes that they must inform the concern to all the members of the department of trade and industry to submit their pending GST returns during this week. Otherwise, the inspection would be conducted by the department by visiting the premises of taxpayers.

Apart from missing the returns, there might be some conditions where the taxpayers were not able to fulfil the compliance required by the GST filing. These conditions may include technical glitches on the portal, frequent revisions of due dates and other government-based delays.
