Correct GST Return Filing Procedure

An awareness seminar was conducted on foreign trade policy which advised businesses to be very much careful while filing GST returns as the error-prone data was the main reason for non-refund of taxes.

The person who spoke said that the skilled authorities unwillingness and ignorance checking was the main reason of GST-related issues in export and import sectors.

Customs Commissionerate and Federation of Indian Export Organisations and the Joint Director General of Foreign Trade jointly organized the seminar.

Sumit Kumar, Commissioner of Customs, Kochi, who opened the session, said, to address the doubts and concerns of people there are many platforms available by Customs Department.

“Even spot assistance through social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp too is available for needy people,” he said.

“We wish to get feedback from people as we welcome all types of questions. We are encouraging people to approach us directly for guidance,” said Mr. Kumar. While he also said that the department will be fully supporting the businessman and entrepreneurs of the industry.

K.M.Harilal, Deputy Director of Foreign Trade, Kochi explained to the members about many provisions under the Foreign Trade Policy for the promotion of exports. Various supportive schemes were listed out for businessmen in the sector and the yet-to-be-explored possibilities.
