Keep Aside GST Roll Out, Bengal FM Amit Mitra

Bengal FM Amit Mitra

The West Bengal government said that the take off of Goods and Services Tax ought to be conceded in perspective of the enormous “destabilizing” move of demonetization till the economy was back on track.

West Bengal finance minister Amit Mitra told that “The GST roll-out in itself is destabilizing but for a good cause. It is destabilizing on the exchequer of all states.”

He was asking that, “Will the country be able to take the two hits, GST, and demonetization at the same time. Will the companies and the state governments be able to restructure themselves?”

“GST is lost in the horrible case of demonetization. Once implemented, it will be good for the country as happened in Canada, New Zealand Australia and Canada,” he added

He said that the GST Council had chosen that remuneration to states would not be given from the Consolidated Fund of India yet from an uncommon reserve corpus of Rs 50,000 crore.

The West Bengal government felt that the implementation of the GST ought to be conceded and actualized till the economy could recover from the demonetization.
