The talks about GST implementations is increasing as the next financial year is getting closer. As we know this act shall subsume all other indirect taxes like Value added tax, Central sales tax, Service tax, Countervailing duty, Special Countervailing duty, Octroi, Entertainment Tax, Entry Tax, Purchase Tax, Luxury Tax, Advertisement Tax, Taxes applicable on lotteries etc. So it is the responsibility of the Government to manage the implementation of the GST in such a manner so that the working could be ensured smooth and flawless with transparency at each level.

To ensure the better management under GST is the primary requirement to train the officials who will be the part of GST implementation across the Country before the implementation of GST. Still, there is uncertainty about the roll out date of Goods and Services Act but the Government is looking sure about the GST implementation before the September 2017 at any time.

GST is collectively a new law in the place of all other individual indirect taxes so it is indeed an utmost requirement to trained the Government official to handle all the issues, problems, suggestion, hurdles on the way of implementation of GST.

In this regard the National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics (NACEN) had already taken the initiatives, NACEN had already done the setup for this, Initially, this academy targeted to train the sixty thousand officials from centre and state who would be instrumental in implementing the new indirect tax regime.

According to the data provided by the NACEN dated 17th December 2016, total forty-four thousand and two hundred fifty-nine field officials have been trained under the NACEN programme and on another date it was acclaimed by the same that further two thousand and sixty other officials have been trained after 17th December 2016 and other three hundred ten official trainers have been skilled collectively.

In this programme along with the other officials some thirty-six officers from comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) to have been imparted the necessary training as well as some officials from Central board of Excise and Customs already been deputed to the GST Network to strengthen the backbone of the new indirect tax regime.

Above mentioned statistics shows that how much government is prepared for the GST roll out and keen to make this switchover from old tax regime to new tax regime in the country.
